On Saturday, June 11, the Karlsons hosted an End of School/Pool Party at their home to kick off the Summer!! Greg cooked up some delicious hamburgers & hot dogs and chips, desserts and drinks were also served up. The kids had a great time swimming in the pool and sliding down the slide. Before eating lunch, Angel Behrman presented Pam Karlson with a plaque and engraved plate in recognition of her contributions and leadership as Cubmaster. Greg was also presented with an appreciation certificate. Some of the partygoers went down to the lake to swim and a few went tubing.
Pack 426 held their 2011 Orange Crate Derby on Saturday, May 21 from around 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. The derby took place at the same location as last year, on North Main Ave. between Lakeview St. and Heartland Blvd. A representative from the Toby the Clown Foundation attended with the derby car that they decorated. Donuts and Juice were served. And of course, the car drivers had a great time between crashes.
The May 16 Pack Meeting took place at the pack's storage warehouse instead of the Presbyterian Church. The scouts & leaders checked the derby cars and did the necessary repairs to get them ready for the Orange Crate Derby on Saturday, May 21.
Some scouts from Pack 426, along with family and friends, came out to Tropicana Field for the Scout Day With The Rays on Sunday, September 25. The Rays took on the Toronto Blue Jays and won 5 to 2!!
Popcorn Sales (Show & Sell) at Publix were on the weekend of October 15-16 from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. or later. The scouts worked 2 hours shifts manning tables at each entrance and sold $1300 worth of popcorn!!
Our most recent pack meeting on Monday, October 31 was the "Fall Festival". There were goodies along with many activities. The activities included apple bobbing, ring toss, candy corn catch, pumpkin golf and many more.
Our pack meeting on Monday, November 28 was "Bowling Night". The pack met at the Royal Palms Bowling Center at 6:30 P.M. About 30 scouts and some of their siblings got to bowl a game on 8 lanes. While bowling, the scouts were served a hot dog and a soda.
Pack 426's Christmas Party was during the December 12 Pack Meeting. Unfortunately, Santa wasn't able to make it due to other pressing matters. However, the scouts each received a pinewood derby car kit. Everyone brought a little bit of everything, such as pigs-in-a-blanket, deviled eggs, chips, cookies, cupcakes, brownies & juice. Umm, all those goodies sure were delicious and everyone had a great time.
This year's Lake Placid Christmas Parade was on Saturday, December 10, starting at 7:00 P.M. The pack rode on a float, instead of walking, this year. A few scouts and their parents came early and helped decorate and put together the float. The rest of the cub scouts who were riding in the parade arrived by about 6:30 P.M. A few parents walked alongside the float handing out candy to spectators along the parade route, which was from Dal Hall Blvd. down Main Ave. to Interlake Blvd., then down Interlake Blvd. to Eucalyptus and then back to Dal Hall. After the parade, there was coffee, hot chocolate, cookies & other desserts at the First Presbyterian Church.
