The first pack meeting for the new scouting year was on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 6:30 PM. This pack meeting was a "Go-See-It" to the Lake Placid Police Dept. on Oak Ave. The pack initially met at the Presbyterian Church for an opening ceremony and a presentation of awards to scouts for summertime activities and achievements. The scouts then walked over to the police station. Lieutenant James Fansler gave the scouts a tour of the police station and showed them some items used in law enforcement and emergency services, such as a lie detector and a defibrillator. The boys got to meet and pet Budrow and handler, Officer Silva. Budrow is a K-9 who sniffs out explosives.
To end the tour, the scouts were fingerprinted and handcuffed. Book'em Dano!
We had a great turnout for our Fall Roundup scout recruitment event in the LPES Media Center on Tuesday, August 31!! Thirty-four boys signed up to be cub scouts!!
There were 15 scouts, 18 parents & 1 sibling from Pack 426 attending the Spook-o-ree & Scare Trail at Camp Flaming Arrow in Lake Wales held on the weekend of October 22-24, 2010. There was a record attendance of packs from all around the Gulf Ridge Council at Spook-o-ree with over 1700 attendees. After setting up camp in the Blackfoot Campsite and eating a Spaghetti dinner, the scouts went to a dance party down at the Council Ring. Upon tiring of dancing, the scouts headed back to camp to roast a "banana boats" around the campfire before calling it a night.
The next morning after breakfast, the boys went down to the Council Ring for the Opening/Flag Raising Ceremony. With the conclusion of the opening ceremony, the scouts proceeded to their morning activities which included archery, mummy wrap race and pumpkin bowling. During lunch, the boys explored the surrounding woods, played football in the open field near camp and investigated around the dock on Fish Lake. After lunchtime, the scouts started their afternoon sessions. The Tigers & Wolves played a game of corncob rolling, while the Bears learned about knife safety and the Webelos learned repelling skills. Then it was off to Wood Hall for craftmaking and then to Saunders Hall for cooking (Popcorn Balls). Our pack's last activity for the would have been BB Gun shooting. However, it would have been too long of a wait to participate. So the boys went back to camp to prepare for dinner. Dinner included chicken legs (grilled by Lisa Quinlin), mashed potatoes and green beans. As the Sun was setting, the scouts headed to the Scare Trail. After walking through the Scare Trail, the scouts participated in the games at the Harvest Fair. There was also a "hay less" hay ride that ran from the Harvest Fair to the center of Camp Flaming Arrow. To wrap up the night's activities, the scouts went back to camp and roasted marshmallows around the campfire.
On Sunday, the Pack broke camp and proceeded to the Council Ring for an Interfaith Worship Service and Closing Ceremonies.
Our 2010 Fall Popcorn Sales Fundraiser was a great success!! Our popcorn "Show & Sell" was at Publix on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010. There were tables set up at each entrance in which two scouts manned a table for a 2-hour shift. There were steady sales and many people gave donations to the pack. Thanks to all those who took the time to help with the "Show & Sell".

Colby Gadsden & Jarrett Behrman each had over $600 in popcorn sales and were rewarded with a Marshmallow Crossbow and a patch. All scouts who sold popcorn received a popcorn sales patch.
